Summer's river flows unhurried -- a quiet day
apparently i got first place in some haiku contest.
random.
i didn't even remember writing this.
i think i just wrote it because i needed a summer haiku.
my spring one was...

The dandelion is a baldie -- poor thing
i liked that one the best, because of my use of ハゲ [ha•ge], the rude word for bald.
it's kinda hilarious, though....
there's a whole analysis with my poem that i guess the contest people wrote:
First impression: Lazy river.
Season: Summer.
Comments The poem describes a calm summer day --- Summer's river flows unhurried -- a quiet day The diction evokes images of a peaceful time by a small river. Unlike the rushing rivers of winter, a summer river is calm, flowing leisurely. All is still except for the babbling of the river as it streams around and over pebbles on the river bed. Indeed it is the picture of a quiet summer day, peaceful and simple.

anyway, here's a short update of what's been going on recently:
• i got into JMU (and GMU a while back...), but rejected by W&M and UVA, but i foresaw that so it's cool. i can always transfer later. :]
• spring trip is next week!
• 3rd quarter is ending friday! :O where did the time go!!? this is probably my best 3rd quarter ever....or maybe i'm actually failing all of my classes. who knows? :P
• colorguard is getting crazy, but maybe crazy is good, because i'm currently freaking out about JMU guard auditions at the end of june. golly. it's supposed to be intense. D:
• i hate timed writings.
• The Lonely Island and Sondre Lerche (and yeah Vampire Weekend, too) are awesome and my current loves.
• though things are pretty stressful this month, life is pretty good. | | |

but then i took a nap and didn't feel like writing about
• tokyo, and why it's so appealing to me
• why lately i've been feeling like a mean person
• why i'm do bent on looking different when i go to college
• how scarring the years between sixth grade through eighth grade were

the nap made me feel grogy, but un-tired and un-depressed.

i want to say one quick thing:
i was bullied by almost everyone because it was easy to pick on me during the years between 6th and 8th grade....
and felt rejected by my peers even up until this year.
so if you find it strange that it's easy for me to cry...
or that it's strange that i want to move half-way around the world...
or that i want to get cosmetic surgery done on my face...
there's the introduction to my reasoning.
i want to be a "cool" person as an adult, okay?

my uncle's dog is dying.
it makes me sad.
Geo and I are like the same age....except multiply my age times four.
but we came into this world at around the same time.
he's such a good dog.
why do pets have to die?
especially pets who are more like kids or best friends to their owners?
this has been happening a lot lately to people i know.
their best friends are being put to sleep because age has caught up with them.
these once happy and energetic dogs are now tired and lagging and struggling to get up and down the stairs.....
it's really depressing.
so then i should listen to

i'm not much of a praying woman since praying never seems to work for me....

actually, my mom was freaking out this weekend after seeing the news reports from ohio about the snowfall.
but looks like it's stopped.
she just doesn't want to drive on slick, snowy roads on the pennsylvania turnpike.
all cliffs and hilly and two lane roady....
'tis scary.
so is seeing the word "foil" on my Stranger assignment and thinking that mccabe wrote "fail"

today was a craptastic japanese project presentation.
yesterday was a craptastic (but i guess fun at some points) day of working on the craptastic japanese project at sam's house.
but whatever.
half day tomorrow and field trip on thursday.
i kept having dreams about japan all weekend.
was it like this two years ago?
i'm relatively disappointed that i will not be going to okinawa this summer.
just thinking about it makes me long for the warm weather......
although today's weather is quite fabulous.
it's 70 degrees outside.
tomorrow it'll be 68 and raining.
and after that the temperature will drop for the rest of the week.
i wonder if there will be snow in michigan two weeks from now.
i want to see real snow, even though i don't like cold weather.
i think i'm entitled to some real snow before it becomes spring.

i wrote something about this a few weeks back on facebook....
about the 14 year old girl, allegedly raped by a US marine....
anyway, since that incident, Okinawa has been in an uproar.
as of a few days ago, the US military has imposed a CURFEW for personnel and their families.
it's supposed to be a period of "reflection" for the foreigners....
apparently there have been more incidents since then...
rape of a fillipino woman in a hotel, drunk driving accidents, drunkenness and passing out in someone's house.
the last one is kinda funny....you're drunk and walk into the wrong house, pass out on the couch....
[in okinawa it's pretty common to not lock your house since it's supposed to be SAFE. how 'bout those drunks. xD]
so yeah.
anyway, let's end this on a light note.

valentine's day is swell! you get lots of chocolate, there are roses everywhere, and everyone is wearing pink or red clothes and accessories, and it's just so fun!!

i was watching 「英語でしゃべらナイト」[eigo de shabera night] on NHK with my mom just now.
today was about going out to speak english.
there's a cafe in....ebisu (?) tokyo where you can only speak in english with the rest of the people there....
the foreigners working there keep the conversations going and i guess they kinda teach a little...
i think it's freakin' awesome.
there's my first アルバイトpart time job.

there's also this place called 「先生バンク」[sensei bank]
it's an online service where you can find a bunch of listed english tutors all across japan....
perty cool.
